FAQs
What is metal
coat and how durable is it?
Artistic Illusions uses a patented metal coat that is
95% real metal. It is not a mixture of ceramic, polymers, or
metal flakes. It takes a paticular multistep process to achieve
the luxurious look and quality that Artistic Illusions offers.
Unlike powder coating and electroplating, metal coat can be applied
over virtually any substrate and is much stronger than either
of the other two processes. It can withstand 1500 PSI without
pulling away from its substrate. Once cured, metal coat has the
characteristics of cast metal including texture, luster, and
heat conductivity. It provides the look, feel, and durability
of solid cast metal without the expense and weight.
What are
your tiles made of and how durable are they?
Unlike other manufacturers, we use a 2-part epoxy which when chemically combined
makes a product similar to polyurethane. This product makes our tiles more durable,
stronger, and weighs considerably less than tiles made from cultured marble,
ceramic, or poly-resin.
What finishes
are available?
The metals that we have include Bronze, Brass, Copper, Nickel Silver,
Pewter, and Iron. Metal is a living finish and therefore
will continue to age and tarnish. We will clear coat any product(s) with no extra
fees applied. Artistic Illusions uses a top of the line clear coat.
How do I
care for my new metal coat products?
To clean the metal finish, use water and a mild antibacterial soap with a soft
cloth or sponge. Never use abrasive cleaners, soft scrub products, harsh chemical
cleaners or abrasive sponges on the finish. Chemicals can and may damage the
finish and/or cloud the clear coat. To avoid water spots, wipe dry with a soft
cloth. For clear-coated products, use Scott's Liquid Gold, Pledge or another
no wax spray to enhance the beauty of the metal. If clear coating is not an option,
keep in mind that Bronze, Brass, Copper, and Iron high polish will age quicker
and will have to be cleaned and polished regularly. Nickel Silver and Pewter
high polish and satin finishes age more slowly. They will require only using
a no wax spray such as Pledge after cleaning. In order to protect and nourish
the patina and oil rubbed finishes after cleaning, they will need to be sprayed
and wiped gently with Scott’s
Liquid Gold wood cleaner and preservative at least once a week.
What kind
of warranty do you offer?
Each piece carries a six-month from the day of delivery-limited warranty covering
defects in the artistic materials and workmanship only. This warranty extends
to the original purchase and first owner only. This warranty does not include
damage from misuse, abuse, negligence, modification, improper installation, accident
or non-adherence to care instructions after acceptance of delivery.
What if my
purchase arrives damaged?
Upon delivery of fixture(s), the buyer or responsible agent of the buyer must
inspect the fixture(s) for damage before signing to accept delivery. Signing
to accept delivery implies that the fixture(s) came into the owner’s possession
in satisfactory condition and is then fully the owner’s responsibility
from that moment on. The buyer shall file any claims of damage or loss incurred
during transit directly with the carrier. Please note any damage to cartons on
carriers receipt and save damaged packing to present to carrier in case of a
future claim. Artistic Illusions will only be responsible for the repair or replacement
of the fixture and the reimbursement to the owner of the cost of its packing
and transit once it has determined a valid warranty condition has been met. Any
other costs, such as labor, or incidental or consequential damages, are the sole
responsibility of the owner.
How long will it take to receive
my order?
All purchases are of a custom nature; therefore, all sales are final and all
fees are non-refundable. Sales tax, packing, shipping and insurance is not
included in the purchase price. This will be paid by the purchaser and will
be actual cost according to value, carrier, transit time and size. Delivery
will be in approximately 4 to 8 weeks from start of production, upon payment
and receipt of all tax and shipping costs, but may vary according to demand.
This will be discussed before purchase. Artistic Illusions reserves the right
to change any terms, availability before purchase without prior notice. All
stated measurements are to be considered approximations.
